Nepal Center of North Carolina Announces 7th Nepal Day Event in Morrisville

Morrisville, North Carolina – Nepal Center of North Carolina (NCNC), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to preserving and promoting Nepali culture and tradition, is excited to announce the 7th Nepal Day event to celebrate Nepali New Year 2080 BS. The event will take place on April 15th, 2023, at Church Street Park in Morrisville.

The event will commence with a parade around the Cricket Pitch in the Church Street Park, with over 700 participants expected to join. The parade will showcase a range of Nepali ethnic costumes, traditional musical instruments and other cultural displays. The Secretary of State Elaine Marshall will be the guest of honor at the event and will inaugurate the parade. The event is of historic significance to people of Nepali origin living in North Carolina. Both Wake County and the Town of Morrisville have proclaimed the third Saturday of April as Nepal Day.

The day-long celebrations at the park will feature Nepali food stalls, cultural booths, and displays from local organizations and businesses. There will also be traditional Nepali dances, songs, and cultural activities, including showcasing traditional Nepali attire. 

“We are thrilled to host the 7th Nepal Day event and celebrate the Nepali New Year with the local community”, said Ram Paudel, President of NCNC. “This event is an excellent opportunity for us to showcase the rich heritage and diversity of the Nepali community. It also demonstrates cooperation and unity among the people of Nepali origin in North Carolina.”

The program is open to the public, and NC state and local Government officials including Wake County Board of Commissioners, officials from the Town of Morrisville, and surrounding towns of Cary, Raleigh, Durham, and Apex are expected to attend the parade and the Nepal Day celebration program.

“We are honored to have the support of the local government officials and we hope to continue to build strong relationships with the community” added Mr. Paudel.
